That was unsatisfactory

I watched a movie once with a friend, and afterwards, she was quiet for a bit and then said, "That was unsatisfactory." I laughed my ass off -- not unsatisfying, but unsatisfactory. Made the whole thing so much more precise. So I've used that for years when I'm unhappy with something -- and last night's Community was very unsatisfactory for me, as was the Big Bang Theory. They both had great moments at the beginning but I wasn't terribly happy with the main storylines.

Especially Community -- that was squirm-inducing, for me, and I really just hated everyone in the study group for that last bit. I don't like feeling that way about characters I love. They are going to have to redeem themselves somehow for that. The one thing I truly loved, and that I screamed with laughter about: Michael K. Williams, who should from now on be in everything ever filmed, lamenting the complexity of Legos these days, with the music from Field of Dreams playing behind it. That was such brilliance I can't even speak of it.

(And it was also especially funny to me because just a few weeks ago, I was asking the same thing of [personal profile] belmanoir -- I don't understand Legos where everything's made for you. When I was a kid, you had to make your own stuff with blocks, they didn't come pre-configured for you. I don't get it!)

Right now, I'm at a place with BBT where I want it to be about the ladies. I love Amy Farah Fowler so much, and Bernadette just rocks my world, and Penny with them is just... she's so much more wonderful when she's with her GFFs. They need to move in together, ditch the boys, and wait for a hot guy to move in across the hall.

Hello, dear Gwyn,I sent you a message before but got no reply, maybe you didn't see it? Levaing a comment here may be inappropriate, but I don't have other ways to contact you.Sorry.
I think you've heard this thousands of times, but you really are a talented writer.Your fics Ciudad de Estrellas and On Beds of Sorrow are my favourite fast&furous fanfics. You enriched the characters, you filled the emptiness between scenes and scenes, you pulled the readers into the world you created and made them never want to go out.
I read your stories countless times, they made me cry, made me smile.I really really apprecaite your work. You may not know that, there're many F&F slash fans in China, and I hope they could be able to enjoy your beautiful stories as well. So,I'm here genuinely ask you to give me the permission to translate these two fics into Chinese. It will be my great honor.
I promise you that there will not be money or any kind of actual benefits involed. All I will have is the satisfaction from translating them.If I get the permission,I'll post it on:http://www.mtslash.com/. And you will still keep every right about your works.
If you agree, you can send me a message or just reply here.Thank you very much!
One last time, your stories are beyond comparison!

I'm so sorry I never got your message before -- thank you for trying again! I think that would be lovely -- I'm really glad to hear that there's such a big Chinese audience for the movies, they are such good movies, I think, for multicultural audiences and it's exciting to know that. I'd be honored to have my fan fiction have a way to reach a whole different audience, too. Thank you for asking!

Great!I really appreciate that you allow me to translate your fics into Chinese.I've posted Ciudad de Estrellas on:http://www.mtslash.com/.Which is a Chinese website created for fanworks for based on western TV,movies, books, comics.Since the community has been running for 7 years,so it's probably the most active forum for fangirls in China.
Nowadays, moderators of the site want to celebrate its 7th anniversary by picking some amazing fics and making them into a non-profit e-book(PDF,only for the members of the forum)and the fan-arts contributed by the members of each fandom.
In the fandom of F&F,people all agree to choose Ciudad de Estrellas(Of course I like your other fics as well, but I haven't had enough time to translate them yet :P).Therefore, the moderators would like to ask your permission to index the translation of your fic into the e-book.If you could let them have the honor, they will collaborate with translator(me) and beta to do a full proof reading and make sure it's presented properly. The e-book is scheduled to release in February,2012.I'll send you an e-book when it's done.
Again, thank you for letting me have the honor to translate your fics, and thanks for yout time!

As long as the ebook is only for fans, and not given to anyone outside the community or to the people involved in making the shows or movie, I'm happy to allow it. (Sometimes fans give fan works to the show runners, and I really don't want that to happen.) Thank you for asking! (Sorry it took so long to reply, I'm a little overwhelmed right now with work.)
